Our vision is to develop our company Saftra Photonics to the level of an organization with international operations as a high-tech establishment focused on the development and application of nanotechnologies (nano-photonics) in the field of environment and industry.
The company’s activities are focused on the development and application of detection methods using Raman spectroscopy. Our continuous development is supported by cooperation with the universities and high-tech companies from the private sector.
Our goal is to bring customers high quality products and technologies with a high level of utilization and added value.
2014
Saftra Photonics was established as spin-off from P.J. Safarik University. The development and the business strategies of the company are based on the research activities in the fields of photonics and biomedical research and development.
2015 – 2018
Company continuous growth is supported by research and development activities focused on pollutants detection in various fields of industry. We offer our support mainly in pharmaceutical and chemical industry. Water industry, wastewater management, milk and dairy industry, food and beverage industry.
2019 – 2021
Company growth and development focused on expanding product and company service portfolios and start to develop own data management system for data collection and evaluation. Company is going to increase R&D capacity and investment to the laboratory equipment to fulfill customer specific requirements. Marketing and business activities focused on worldwide market.
2022 – 2025
Company is going to increase market share related to pollution detection systems and expand R&D and business activities to medicine and biomedicine sector.
Our mission is to bring improvements to processes and products of our customers and society, while helping to improve the environment in which we live. The goal of our activities is to understand in detail the needs and requirements of our customers and to design the most effective solutions.
2014
Based on marketing research and business evaluation of technology being developed company Saftra Photonics was established as private entity. Basic company strategy was developed.
2015 – 2018
Company introduced own developed and patented product PickMol. Company started to create customer network and increased R&D capacity and ability to fulfill customer requirements. Company focused on customer projects and international projects related to environmental health. Marketing and business plan developed.
2019 – 2021
Company activities focused on R&D, production and customer support and development to achieve 0,5% product and service coverage of market share related to pharmaceutical, chemical, food and beverage, milk industry and waste water management worldwide.
2022 – 2025
Increase participation on international projects related to environmental health. Increase market share at the area of interest up to 2% worldwide. Achieve 0,5% market share related to detection methods and systems in medicine and biomedicine sector.

PAVOL MIŠKOVSKÝ
CTO, founder and owner of the SAFTRA photonics Ltd., specialist in biophotonics, biophysics and nanotechnologies. Inventor of the PickMol™ technology. PhD. degree in Biophysics, Charles University, Prague 1986, DrSc. in Biophysics Comenius University, Bratislava 2000, Full Professor in Physics P. J. Safarik University in Košice 2000. Post-doc at Institut Curie, Paris and at Bologna University, Bologna (Italy). Positions of visiting professor at Marie Curie University, Paris, University Orleans (France), Instituto de Estructura de la Materia, CSIC, Madrid (Spain), Fulbright fellowship at Iowa State University, Ames, (USA). PI of 4 EU projects (FP6, FP7, H2020) and co-PI of 9 international projects (NSF, NATO, bilateral). Expert of the EU for FP6, FP7, H2020 (FET) programs. Member of executive committees of several international professional organizations (EBSA, EuroBioimaging). Scientist of the year 2014 and 2017 of the Slovak republic. Technology competitions: Start-up Award 2017, Slovakia, winner, Vodafon Idea of the Year, Czech Republic, Prague 2018, second place, European Innovation Council SME instrument, Brussels 2018, winner. 160 CC publications (6 invited review articles), Hirsch index h = 25. 62 invited lectures at international congresses (4 plenary lectures) and several universities and scientific institution over the world.
